Hand Mirrors

The hand mirror collection contains six distinctive pieces, each varying in design and history. The Erté touch is obvious in the selection of the beveled and tinted glass (so we look our best!). Having all of these displayed on your wall is one of the best ways to showcase these important acquisitions. They are priced right (all six cost less than one of his major sculptures). Owning these mirrors is a reflection of your good taste. It should be emphasized that these mirrors, made of solid bronze, were conceived to be viewed as objects of art
The first mirror in the collection is All Sails Up. The High Museum of Art in Atlanta acquired this piece for its permanent collection.

Table Mirrors

The origin of Erté's table mirrors is an interesting story. Erté, the Estoricks and I were having lunch in New York when I expressed an interest in table mirrors. Erté thought about the request and designed a new concept for table mirrors in a few minutes. He quickly recommended the adaptation of some of his earlier designs to this new format. In less than five minutes, at age 93, this remarkable man again demonstrated his virtuosity as the leading artist-designer of the 20th century. No wonder Charles Spencer, Erté's biographer, has favorably compared him to Leonardo and Michelangelo, who made their mark as designers as well as artists.

Wall Mirrors

Some of the great contributions to design have been Erté's imaginative wall mirrors Made of bronze and cast using the expensive lost wax technique, they are capable of recording his finest detail and reflecting his lovely color palette. It is interesting to note that the affluent in earlier times frequently commissioned artists to create fabulous mantel mirrors. These richly-carved, often gilded objects were one of the most impressive ways a person of means could express himself artistically. Today, few artists offer mirrors, and I do not know any artist offering bronze mirrors in limited editions. These are truly special and made for the collector with consummate taste.

Candelabras and Candlesticks

The only candelabra Erte has ever offered to his public is a nine-point candelabra called Tree of Life. This menorah was released by Erté in 1988 as a tribute to the 40th anniversary of the State of Israel. I am very proud to present this work of art. Its ownership fills one with pride. With this piece, Erté celebrates the indomitable spirit, history and heritage that is Israel. His Tree of Life menorah is a symbol of the unity of a faith, a people and a nation, and also stands as an emblem of the essential unit of civilization, the family.

Bowls

Since Erté's bowls were primarily designed as centerpieces for tables, it is appropriate to discuss them after candlesticks and candelabras. The Fruit of Life bowl is a quintessential Erte object embodying whimsy, beauty and adoration. Additionally, this piece is all original bronze work of art having been cast using the lost wax process at the same foundry Erte uses to cast his sculpture.

Vases

Erté has used mixed media in most of his vases. Crystal, bronze, silver, white gold and yellow gold have been used successfully by Erté in a collection of stunning vases. This collection represents only the best of his vase designs over the last 70 years. What a pleasure it has been during the last three years to review his archives, to select the most outstanding examples and to see them become available.
